Orisha Shopping in Rio
The largest shopping mall in the world for Candomble, Umbanda and other Afro-Brazilian religious supplies is located in Rio. Known as the Madureira,
it is a mall filled with shops offering everything you could possibly need for a terreiro or Umbanda house, and more.
Ogan Carlos drove us to the Madureira, and I was overwhelmed by the array of items in each small shop. Carlos took us to a shop where he knew the owner and we could get a discount. Every single available space in the shop was crammed with goods - from the floor - to things hanging from the ceiling.
